Air fryer baking times and temperatures

Tested starting points for cakes, cookies, breads and more. Air fryers run hot and fast, so bake a little lower than the oven and check early. Switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius, search for what you are making, or print the chart for the kitchen.

How to use this chart. Air fryer models vary in power and basket size, so treat these as starting points. Bake at the temperature shown, check at the earliest time, and add a minute or two as needed. Tops cook fast, so tent with foil if something browns before the centre is set.

Air fryer baking questions

What temperature should I bake a cake in an air fryer?
Most cakes bake well around 320°F (160°C). That is lower than a conventional oven, because the air fryer circulates heat quickly and the top can brown before the centre sets. Start checking from about 25 minutes and tent with foil if it colours too fast.
How long do cookies take in an air fryer?
Most cookies need 8 to 10 minutes at around 325°F (165°C). They firm up as they cool, so pull them when the edges are set and the centres still look soft.
Why are air fryer baking temperatures lower than the oven?
An air fryer is a small convection oven, so the fan drives heat onto the food much faster. Dropping the temperature by roughly 25°F (about 15°C) and checking early stops the outside from over-browning before the inside is done.
Can I use my oven recipe in the air fryer?
Yes. Lower the oven temperature by about 25°F (15°C) and start checking 20 to 25 percent sooner. Our air fryer calculator does the maths for you.
